In this part we want to look at the dietary laws of Yahweh's Holy Word. Just what can we safely eat? Can we just pray over the food and sanctify it with prayer?

But the Spirit says expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons, through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron; forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which Yahweh created to be received with thanksgiving by them that believe and know the truth. For every creature of Yahweh is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it be received with thanksgiving: for it is sanctified through the word of Yahweh and prayer. 1 Tim 4:1-5

Does this passage imply that all food is acceptable for human consumption? No, it does not if we look closely at the context. The words "commanding to abstain from meats," is followed by WHICH YAHWEH CREATED TO BE RECEIVED WITH THANKSGIVING BY THEM THAT BELIEVE AND KNOW THE TRUTH." What is the truth concerning this passage? This passage would be understood by those who know the truth of Yahweh's word. The food that is acceptable by Almighty Yahweh's standard is found in Torah!

You shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my ordinances, and do them; that the land, where I bring you to dwell there, vomit you not out. And you shall not walk in the customs of the nations, which I cast out before you: for they did all these things, and therefore I abhorred them. But I have said unto you, You shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey: I am Yahweh your Elohim, who has separated you from the peoples. You shall therefore make a distinction between the clean beast and the unclean, and between the unclean fowl and the clean: and you shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by bird, or by anything with which the ground teems, which I have separated from you as unclean. And you shall be holy unto me: for I, Yahweh, am holy, and have set you apart from the peoples, that you should be mine. Lev.20:22-26

We must make a clear distinction between the clean beast and the unclean beast and between the clean fowl and the unclean fowl. The following guidelines are legislated in Torah law.

For you are a holy people unto Yahweh your Elohim, and Yahweh  has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.
You shall not eat any abominable thing. These are the beasts which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat, the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the antelope, and the chamois. And every beast that divides the hoof, and has the hoof divided in two, and chews the cud, among the beasts, that may you eat. Nevertheless these you shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that have the split hoof completely divided: the camel, and the hare, and the coney; because they chew the cud but do have a split hoof, they are unclean unto you. And the swine, because he has a split  hoof but chews not the cud, he is unclean to you: of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch.
These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales may you eat; and whatever has not fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean to you.
Of all clean birds you may eat. But these are they of which you shall not eat: the eagle, and the gier-eagle, and the ospray,
and the glede, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind, and every raven after its kind, and the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the sea-mew, and the hawk after its kind, the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl, and the pelican, and the vulture, and the cormorant, and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat. And all winged creeping things are unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten. Of all clean birds you may eat.
You shall not eat of anything that dies of itself: you may give it unto the sojourner that is within thy gates, that he may eat it; or you may sell it unto a foreigner: for you are a holy people unto Yahweh your Elohim.
Deuteronomy 14:3-21

Here you see the law concerning edible animals, fish and fowl included. There are plenty of clean animals we can safely consume. You can eat beef, sheep, goat, chicken, turkey, tuna, salmon, etc.

CATTLE - Beef, Hamburger, Veal

SHEEP - Lamb, Mutton

OTHERS - Antelope, Buffalo (Bison), Caribou, Deer (Venison), Elk, Gazelle, Giraffe, Goat, Hart, Ibex, Moose, Reindeer, Locusts

Anchovy, Bass, Bluefish, Carp, Cod, Croppies, Flounder, Grouper, Grunt, Haddock, Halibut, Herring, Mackerel, Minnow, Perch, Pickerel, Pike, Rockfish, Salmon, Shad, Smelt, Snapper, Sole, Steelhead, Sunfish, Tarpon, Tuna (Albacore, Bonita, Yellowtail)

Chickens, Dove, Duck, Goose, Grouse, Guinea, Partridge, Peacock, Pheasant, Pigeon, Songbird, Sparrow, Quail, Turkey.

As you can see from the above list  there is plenty of good clean food to eat. I would like to include the following information for you to read concerning parasites. There is a reason why Father Yahweh only wants us to eat certain foods and practice good hygiene.

Parasites: Alive and Well in the U.S.A.

Published in Health Counselor Magazine - 4/1/1995

by Ann Louise Gittleman, M.S., C.N.S.

If you think that parasites are only a problem in developing countries or the tropics, then you are in for some shocking news. "Parasitic infections are a major cause of illness in the United States," stated Dr. Theodore Nash from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (Bethesda, Maryland) in a 1993 press release.
A June 1994 research paper that appeared in The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene stated that in both 1987 and 1991, stool examinations by state diagnostic laboratories revealed parasites in 20 percent of all samples. The microscopic organisms discovered in the study, which was conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), were parasites such as Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba coli, Endolimax nana, Blastocystis hominis, and Entamoeba histolytica as the most prevalent. The study was conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta.
Parasites first surfaced in the 1990's in connection with the Desert Storm veterans. The word "parasite" again made headlines in 1993 when people in Milwaukee, WI drank city water contaminated with a microscopic organism called Cryptosporidium. As a result, 400,000 people came down with severe stomach ailments and diarrhea. In the fall of 1994, the NBC television show, DATELINE, exposed Cryptosporidium in the water supply in New York City which poses a looming danger to individuals with suppressed immune systems.

Once not even seen as a disease-causing agent in humans, Cryptosporidium is now considered a serious threat, particularly for immuno suppressed individuals where just a few organisms can cause death. Cryptosporidium is also problematic for individuals undergoing chemotherapy, those who have leukemia, or are under two years of age. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, Cryptosporidium is currently the leading cause of waterborne illness in the United States. In fact, in this country, it has been found in 80 percent of surface water samples and 28 percent of drinking water samples.

What is a parasite?

A parasite is technically an organism that is receiving food and shelter at the expense of another organism that is receiving food and shelter at the expense of another organism without giving anything in return. On the contrary, parasites often irritate the gut, become tissue invasive, create arthritic type aches and pains, obstruct the GI tract, and sap energy. The problem is parasites seem like a foreign, Third World concern, and most physicians don't suspect or search for them. Their symptoms often mimic other more familiar diseases-like the flu, for example. It is important to recognize the signs of parasite-based illness. One of the easiest ways to do this is to check a detailed travel history before the patient became ill. It's amazing how many trips to Mexico, Greece, Israel, India, and China provide clear-cut clues to chronic illness.

The travel connection

A number of seemingly unrelated factors unique to the late 20th century have contributed to the unrestrained parasite epidemic and added to the increased risk of parasitic infection. The first of these factors is international travel.
Today more than ever before, American tourists are traveling to remote areas of the world. An affluent society is a mobile one. In 1990, 15 million Americans made international trips. Half of these traveled to Third World countries. More adventurous trips to exotic destinations like the Caribbean Islands and remote areas of Mexico, South America, Asia, Africa, China, and Israel have replaced the old-fashioned grand tour.
Unfortunately, travel can be fatal. Malaria, the most virulent of the parasitic diseases, is on the rise both here and abroad. Malaria is a ruthless killer, responsible for up to two million deaths per year in over 100 countries. The rise of this disease is partly because mosquitoes have become resistant to DDT and other insecticides. Drug resistant parasites have also been found throughout South America, East Africa, and Southeast Asia. There are many documented clinical cases of people who have been infected in other countries but did not manifest symptoms until after their return home. In some of these cases, the disease was properly identified but already had progressed beyond the point of medical intervention and the patients died.
Most of us expect less threatening conditions, like bouts of diarrhea, as souvenirs of world travel. We pack our Pepto-Bismol right along with our passports and think nothing of it. But if you visit St. Petersburg, Russia, you will find your Pepto-Bismol to be an inadequate remedy. The city's tap water is infected with Giardia lamblia, a microscopic parasite. Visitors to this "Giardia City" may take home severe diarrhea, fevers, chills, muscle pain, and intestinal bloating. Visitors to Nepal are routinely stricken with severe cases of Giardia, unaffectionately referred to as "Deli-Belly." Giardiasis, however, can do more than ruin your vacation. It has been known to set the state for unexplained conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and chronic fatigue.

Water Connection

One of the greatest parasitic hazards is contaminated water, not only abroad but right here in this country. Unlike bacteria, the two most prevalent water borne parasites in this country, Giardia and Cryptosporidium, are not killed by chlorination. Cryptosporidium is a real challenge to the municipal water treatment facilities because it is a much smaller organism than its sister, Giardia, and cannot be filtered out by current filtration systems created before Cryptosporidium was identified in 1978.

Luckily, in October 1994, the Environmental Protection Agency required all urban water systems to test for Cryptosporidium and Giardia. This testing will continue monthly for eighteen months.

Day care centers

Rampant parasitic infections exist in many day care centers nationwide. The CDC has estimated that every year, day care centers are the source of nearly 20,000 cases of Giardiasis. Since the disease can be spread through direct contact with infected feces, day care centers provide a ready environment for transmission and have been referred to as "the open sewers of the 20th Century."

Because Giardia cysts lodge under the fingernails, the infection can be inadvertently spread by inquisitive toddlers touching dirty diapers and then contaminating toys, drinking faucets, and themselves with their frequent hand-to-mouth contact. According to Dennis Juranek, D.V.M., Chief of Epidemiology of The Parasitic Disease Branch at the CDC, roughly 20 percent of parents become infected themselves when caring for their sick children.

Immigrant’s

Parasitic infection is associated with the tropics and the subtropical areas of the world because of climate and unsanitary conditions. Parasites are much more prevalent in immigrants from areas like the South Pacific, Mexico, South America, Asia, and Haiti.

Immigrants to this country, who are often unskilled and unable to speak English but willing to work for minimum wage or less, often seek jobs in restaurants. Immigrants also find work as babysitters or housekeepers. An Associated Press article on September 3, 1992, carried the headline, "World Worms! Traveling Parasites Leave Latin America to Afflict Big Apple." The article described how four orthodox Jews in New York City were mysteriously stricken with seizures. CAT scans showed pork tapeworm cysts in the brain; a most startling revelation considering these individuals never ate pork due to their religious dietary laws. A CDC formal investigation discovered the single common denominator in each case history-a housekeeper originally from Central America where pork tape worm infection is relatively common. The investigator theorized that the housekeeper unknowingly carried the tapeworm eggs and infected the Jewish families by contaminating their foods.

Restaurants

The more cosmopolitan the city, the greater the proliferation of exotic restaurants. Our fascination with regional foods has led to an increased incidence of parasites. Exotic foods that are prepared raw or undercooked pose a significant parasite risk, i.e., sushi, sashimi, steak tartare, ceviche, and Dutch herring. The CDC 1976 nationwide survey into parasitic diseases pinpointed a 100 percent increase in tapeworm infections in the preceding ten years. Tapeworm is transmitted in raw or undercooked fish, beef, and pork.

Household pets

Pets are host to numerous parasites and are unexpected spreaders of disease. There are 240 infectious diseases transmitted by animals to humans. Of these, 65 are transmitted by dogs and 39 by cats. There are 110 million dogs and cats living in America's households, making exposure to some of these diseases significant. Dog and cat roundworm, hookworm, and cat-transmitted toxoplasmosis can become severe in pregnant women and children and even life threatening in immuno compromised individuals. Philip Goscienski, M.D., head of the Infectious Disease Branch of Pediatrics at the Naval Regional Medical Center, states that these diseases are almost always unsuspected and unrecognized.

Antibiotics

When the intestinal system is in healthy balance, there is less opportunity for parasitic infestation. Antibiotics, however, kill bacteria indiscriminately, both the good and the bad, upsetting the natural ecology of the gastrointestinal tract and vagina. This often leads to yeast overgrowth and trichomoniasis. Trichomonas vaginalis is a microscopic parasite that causes foul-smelling vaginal discharge burning sensations and inflammation. In some areas of the United States, this condition is found in 50 percent of all women. It is sexually transmitted and when passed to a male partner can cause nonspecific urthritis.

Sex

The sexual revolution of the late 1960s and early 1970s made it acceptable to have a variety of sexual partners also increased the likelihood of sexually transmitted parasites, including Trichomonas vaginalis, Entamoeba histolyticia, Giardia lamblia, pinworms, and pork tapeworms.

AIDS

Parasites may be a cofactor in the development of AIDS. An article appearing in the New England Journal of Medicine drew a connection between the disease and epidemic outbreaks of amebiasis two years prior to the San Francisco AIDS outbreak. University of Virginia School of Medicine researchers point out that amoebas produce a substance that ruptures immune defense cells that have engulfed the HIV virus. Once those cells are ruptured, the virus spreads throughout the system. In addition, as a result of the AIDS epidemic, the incidence of unusual parasitic diseases, such as Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia, cryptosporidciosis, and strongyloidiasis has increased. These diseases can be fatal in the AIDS victim.

Detection

A stool sample (either random or purged) is the most common way to find parasites. A technique utilizing rectal mucus has also been perfected and can be administered by some physicians. There are many labs that specialize in parasite testing. It is important to note, however, that even if the stool sample is negative, many doctors will treat anyway based on symptoms. There is no foolproof diagnostic method when it comes to finding these "uninvited guests."

As for treatment, doctors often prescribe drugs. Some of the medications most commonly prescribed are Flagyl, Iodiquinol, Atabrine, and Vermox. Any one of these will usually rid the system of parasites if taken long enough. The major drawback is that many people suffer unpleasant side effects from these specific medications. These side effects include nausea, mental disturbances, and liver problems.
For those that opt for the "natural route," many individuals report outstanding results from herbal-based products. Herbs like garlic, pink root, black walnut, butternut, Ficus and the artemisias like mugwort and wormwood can get rid of the larger critters. Grapefruit seed extract and enzymes like protease, papain, and bromelain can help eliminate the smaller pathogens that are microscopic. These enzymes can break through the windowpane of mucus that overlays most microscopic cyst.

The parasite fighting herbs are usually taken alone or in combination with natural laxatives such as cascara sagrada and senna. Generally capsules or tinctures are taken three times a day for a period of about two weeks with a rest period of about five days and then the cycle is repeated once or twice more depending on your symptoms.
Other effective remedies include certain seeds from papaya, pumpkin, and lemon for example. Papaya seeds can be used either fresh or dried. One tablespoon of fresh seed should be chewed well and eaten once a day on an empty stomach. If you would like to improve the taste, mix with honey. Dried seeds should be thoroughly crushed and swallowed with water. Take either form once a day for a week and then repeat the treatment two weeks later.

To use pumpkin seeds, eat on handful of raw or roasted seeds. Take twice a day for one week for treatment of tapeworms or roundworms. Repeat in two weeks. If taken with garlic or mugwort, pumpkin seeds are also effective again pinworms.
Lemon seeds should be crushed and taken with honey once a day for five days. The process should be repeated in two weeks.

Teas like three-taste tea or Corsican seaweed tea are also helpful remedies. Three-taste tea is made from shakosai, licorice, and daio. One cup should be taken at least one half hour before each meal totaling three cups per day. Repeat treatment in two weeks.

Drink one cup of Corsican seaweed tea each day for ten days. In two weeks, repeat the cycle.
There is no doubt that prevention is the key. Since parasites flourish on sugar, it is important to eliminate this parasite promoter and immune suppresser in all forms from your diet. This includes excessive fruit and fruit juices. The exceptions are cranberries, small amounts of fresh pineapple and fresh papaya, which contain anti-parasitic enzymes.

A strong immune system seems to be the best ally in keeping parasite free. Hydrochloric acid (HCL) is essential. Many individuals lose the ability to produce hydrochloric acid due to strict vegetarian diets, and age. After the age of forty many people do not secrete enough hydrochloric acid. Also individuals with type A blood seem to be more genetically prone to achlorhydria. Generally speaking at least two HCL tablets or capsules per meal is helpful but sometimes twice as much is needed.

Of course, keeping away from processed, fiber-depleted foods is important. Instead eat unprocessed, high fiber foods that encourage elimination. Make sure you have adequate protein and daily intake of the essential fatty acids, which keep cell membrane strong. The good fats include flaxseed oil, unprocessed safflower seed oil, sesame oil, un-hydrogenated soybean oil, and botanicals like evening primrose oil. For cooking use fresh sage, cloves, cayenne, fennel, thyme and fresh garlic.

As we can see from the information provided above, you must be very careful in food consumption and hygienic conditions, or you just might come in contact with a health damaging malady. Notice the bold underlined section in this article (Emphasis Mine). The four Jewish people affected with the tapeworm cysts never ate pork at all. However, they were contaminated by someone who did! You must be very careful in everything that could possibly enter your body. You must take great precautions where food and drink are concerned.

I would like to end part 6 here. Because I have more information for you to consider in another article concerning the clean and unclean food laws, I will continue this in part 7.

Yours in Messiah, Hawke
